I had the pleasure of going to high school with Ed at Kennedy.  At a time in our lives when pettiness and cruelty was commonplace among classmates, Ed was a beacon of positive  light, always friendly to everyone without  any pretense, and always making you feel a bit better than before you talked to him. When I was little, seeing my cousin Eddie or "Baby Eddie" as we called him as he was the youngest member of our extended family at that time, was always a visit we all looked forward to. He was adorable. In our Christmas play we were happy to cast him as Baby Jesus as he was just the right size and even then, a good sport for all of our antics. He grew to be a lovely and kind person. We had fun times as cousins; wish that we could share more. My heartfelt condolences go to my Uncle Ed, my cousin Dan and his wife Maria, as well as to all who cherish fond memories of spending time with Ed. Rest in Peace Eddie. With love, Cathy

Ed has always been a great friend and an loving person. He was always greeting everyone with a beautiful smile, and made everyone feel welcome. He brought joy to so many people with his love for food and music. I will truly miss our time together. RIP

I first met Ed during our time at MSNBC. I believe he was about 24 years old at the time. He was friendly and welcoming and always had a great attitude, and a warm smile. I left MSNBC in 2000 and took a staff gig at CBS. As careers go in television sometimes you lose touch with friends. Jump to 2004 I took a staff position with CNN. It was during orientation that I thought,  man! I made a huge mistake. Apprehension, doubt and fear of making a huge mistake started to set in. All new hires were shuffled around to different rooms and somehow I ended up seated behind Ed. He turned around with that same smile and called out my name. I immediately greeted him with tremendous joy of seeing him. The first thing I asked was, how is this place? He said it’s all good, they’re cool. That was it. All fear was instantly gone. Somehow he had a gift for calming any situation. I witnessed that over and over again. 
He was a professional who took his craft seriously and set a tone for the crew. He had an awesome sense of humor and I will miss Ed every time I look over to share a smile about something going on over headsets. 

Eddie was one of first people I met, when arriving at CNN and he made me feel at home right away - at CNN and on the east coast. He was a fantastic camera person- always had the shot when you needed it - and always knew which shot you needed even when you didn't know it was the shot you needed.
But most importantly, he was a kind soul.
I'll miss you Eddie.

For CNN’s road crew, Ed, Doug McKinley and I were often operating the three center cameras from the “back of the house” in the theaters and arenas used for most of CNN’s  Special Events Coverage of the Election Coverage, Debates, Town Halls, Inaugurations and Conventions. We were a great team who grew to know how to work together, in a way that just worked well. There were no ego problems, we had so much fun, and just got the job done. Later after the show, we dined together, enjoyed seeing our beautiful country and meeting the interesting  people along the way. We referred to our trio as the Trinity: I was the Father, Ed was the Son, and Doug was the Holy Brother. We had great fun, great food, great times, all while doing a great job for CNN. Ours were Great Friendships that I will cherish always. Ed was an embraceable man who was Loved by all who knew Him. He will be missed, and will be held dearly in our hearts Forever.  

We were greatest of friends  throughout  middle school,  tent outs, trips, fire department explorer's,  movies,  biking all over every inch of that town! To quote stand by me "I never had as good of friends  as I did when I was 12!  DOES ANYONE?" Some thing like that, point is THANK YOU MY FRIEND FOR BEING THERE  FOR ME! YOU WILL BE MISSED

I went to school with ed we were in the same grade in the croton schools.he was a kind soft spoken person I can only imagine him as a gentleman as an adult.I am so sorry to hear that he passed and my thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones RIP Ed your old school friend

Heartfelt condolences to your family. Ed was a kind soul and broadcast professional and my husband and I had the pleasure of working with him and knowing him at MSNBC. 
We had not seen him in person for awhile but our MSNBC work family through the years holds a special place in our hearts and Ed was one of those people.
He will be greatly missed.

The world lost a wonderful gentle man.  He was so kind and he mean to so much to all of his CNN Family.  Even though we are better for having him as a friend he was taken away from us far far too soon. Please accept my sincere condolences as we honor this incredible man.

Maya Angelo said “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Ed made me feel - terrific. He was a caring, compassionate and curious individual. We shared a passion - a passion for shooting live music. I remember hearing stories of his favorite moments - he was at so many great concerts and shot a great deal of them. I was hoping to see in New Orleans for Jazz Fest, assuming that where there was great music to be found he would inevitably be there. I was lucky to have known him and felt that great energy that he put out. He was universally loved and there's not many people about whom that can be written. It's unfathomable that he's gone. Love you Ed, sending peace, love, and music to your soul.  

I met Ed while working at CNN.  He was so friendly and warm, I immediately enjoyed his company.  His smile and attitude made a tough job much easier.  And, man, was he talented.  I still remember several live moves he did to this day on various shows, among, perhaps, the thousands of hours of TV I witnessed while working.  Ed's work and personality stood out.  He will be missed.  This world needs more souls like his.  Not less. 

RIP Eddie!  For some reason you crossed my mind just last night!  Now I see that you've left us!  I remember the good old days of the junior fire dept!

I first met young Ed when he was a Boy Scout in Troop 28 in Croton.  A delightful young man who was a senior scout in our Troop and a great example of what a good scout should be.  My son, Dan, was about three or four years younger and a new scout to the troop.  He really looked up to Ed and was treated kindly by him.
Lots of fun on hikes and overnite camping trips at Clear Lake Scout Reservation in Putnam Valley.
Ed was well raised by his parents Ed and Barbara.  A kind and likable man.
So sorry to hear of his passing at such a young age.  Rest In Peace, Scout.
