Carmelo "Joe" DiGiovanni

Carmelo was born on September 30, 1940 in Bivona, Sicily, Italy to the late Stefano and Carmela (Militello) DiGiovanni. He immigrated to the United States when he was 26 years old. He married his beloved wife Irene Gentilviso of 54 years on September 24, 1966. He worked at multiple restaurants on Mulberry St. during his career. Carmelo maintained a “Spirit of Italy” with his life in America and kept close ties with family and friends in Sicily.

He is survived by his beloved wife Irene DiGiovanni; loving children, MaryAnn Seelke and her husband Christopher and Steven DiGiovanni and his wife Ruchika and his cherished grandchildren, Ariana, Danielle, Simar, Kyra, Nicholas and Stephanie.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 3-5 pm at the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Friday, September 3rd at St. Augustine R.C. Church in Ossining, NY. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
