Barbara A. Zajac

Barbara A. Zajac, a lifelong resident of Croton-on-Hudson, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on January 3, 2023. She was 89. Barbara was born on December 25, 1933 to the late Clinton and Clara (Lupton) Dorian. She worked as a school secretary for Croton-Harmon School District for many years. Barbara enjoyed spending her summers in the Adirondak family home.

She is survived by her three children, Joseph Jr. and his wife Kathy, Barbara and her husband Richard, Sharon and her husband Alan, and her sister Joan DeMarco and her husband Carmen.

She enjoyed her eight grandchildren; Jeffrey, Matthew, Richard, Brandon, Alyssa, Emma, Joey and Silas. She was blessed to become a great Grandmother to James Henry and Piper. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Zajac and her brother and sister in law, Clinton and Anne Dorien.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to North Country SPCA, Elizabethtown, NY or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.

A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, January 24 from 3-7pm at Edward F Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson with a prayer service to follow at 6:30pm. Interment will be private.
