William (Bill) Douglas Winters, beloved father, a dedicated brother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. Born on September 28, 1948 in Charleston, WV. Bill lived a life marked by love, laughter, and a deep commitment to his family.
Bill was a proud Chemical Engineer and Vietnam veteran who was known for his unwavering integrity, extraordinary work ethic, and his ability to light up any room with his infectious smile and kind spirit. Though he faced the challenges of life with a steadfast strength, it was his genuine care for others that truly defined him.
As a father, he loved nothing more than to teach, guide, and inspire his children, Jaclyn Vanderpool (James) Cari Cecil (Chuck) and Blaine Winters (Acacia). He was the ultimate role model and confidant, encouraging them to dream big and pursue their passions. His lessons of kindness, respect, and perseverance will forever be etched in their hearts.
Bill was known for his kind heart and willingness to lend a helping hand. Whether it was through community service assisting other veterans, helping neighbors and friends, or simply offering a listening ear, he touched the lives of many with his generosity and compassion.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Connie Samms-Winters, parents, William and Betty and his sidekick and favorite dog, Prissy. He is survived by his siblings David Winters, Sharon Hogge and Brian Winters. Grandchildren, Chloe (Brett), Vivian, James, Colton, Amari, Alannah, Violet and Emmy and one great-grandchild, MacKenzie. Nephews Teddy and Todd Hogge.
Bill will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the love he gave and the memories he created.
Celebration of Bill’s life will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home with Celebrant HR Whittington presiding. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by St Albans VFW Post 6418 and American Legion Post 73.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 until time of service at the funeral home.
