Thelma Pyles Shamblin, 87, of Dunbar, WV, passed peacefully after a long battle with dementia and other health complications on November 10, 2023, at The Hubbard House West in South Charleston, WV. Born April 23, 1936, in Seebert, WV, she is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Jewell Pyles, sister Emma (Vince) Epling, and her late husband John L. Shamblin.
Thelma was a bookkeeper during most of her adult life, but first and foremost, a loving Mother and Grandmother. Although she was born and raised in West Virginia, she cherished the 27 years that she lived in South Florida with her family.
Survivors include her sisters Mary (Steve) McClure and Nellie (Gary) Deusenberry of Dunbar, WV, daughter Patricia (Greg) Petry of St. Albans, WV, grandsons Michael Shamblin of West Palm Beach, FL, and Corey (Ingrid) Petry of Charlotte, NC.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at the Dunbar Center who lovingly cared for Thelma during her final 2-1/2 years.
