Mildred "Millie" Hull Ong, 92, of Charleston, passed away February 15, 2019, after a short illness at Brookdale Charleston Gardens. Daughter of the late Ernest B and Eva G. Grog, Mrs. Ong was born in Pocahontas County but moved to Charleston at a young age.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald C. Ong; sons, David L. Ong, and Thomas L. Ong; infant brother, Harold H. Hull; brother, Dr. Ernest Hull; and granddaughter, Kelly "Kristy" Fisher.
Mrs. Ong was a 1944 graduate of Charleston High School. She was a former employee of the West Virginia State Police, the American Red Cross, and the State of WV Tax Dept., where she served as Secretary for the tax commissioner. She was a 50-year member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and a member of the Charleston's Women's Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna O'Field, of Charleston; daughters-in-law, Barbara Ong and Debbie Ong; grandchildren, Steven O'Field (Carri), of Lookout, Jennifer Sutherland, Sarah Hartwell (Mike), all of St. Albans; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.
Celebration of Millie's life will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Wise officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest next to her husband and son.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
