Joyce Marie Lester

She was born January 7, 1937 in Charleston, the daughter of Vernon and Opal Lemon. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Jeff Lester, sister Kay Godbey and her partner of 57 years Carroll “Fuzz” Boggess.

Joyce attended East Nitro Baptist Church. She treasured her family especially her daughter and granddaughter. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend that will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter Marsha Schulz (Bill), granddaughter Jessica Tyler (Stacy), great granddaughter Makiya, sisters, Phyllis Russell, Sue Mallett, Greta Samples, Cindy Gibson, Donna VanCamp, Peggy Bailey, Marrilyn Flack brother Butch Lemon, special niece Danette Thomas, longtime dear friend and caregiver Debbie Cobb, Richard “Peewee” Shiltz who was like a son to her and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Celebration of Joyce’s life will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home with Pastors Ron Armstrong and Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mt. Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Gathering of family and friends will be from 1 until time of service at the funeral home.
