Geraldine D. “Jerri” Bryant, who departed this life on June 17, 2024, was grateful for all the years she lived. Her parents, Leon Delbart and Mable Bays Delbart of South Charleston welcomed her to their family on September 16, 1924. She lived in WV her entire life. Her husband of 49 years, Jack Bryant, and her five siblings preceded her in death. She devoted much of her adult life to promoting appropriate education for all children, helping the families of children with learning disabilities, celebrating her Belgian-American heritage, and promoting voting rights for all citizens. In 1999 the Learning Disabilities Association honored her for her lifetime dedication to children and adults with learning disabilities. As a skilled seamstress and needleworker, she created many works of great beauty that she generously shared with friends and family.
Jerri retired from St. Albans City government where, among other posts, she served as secretary to mayor Avril Ramsey. She is survived by her two children, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, Jerri asked that friends and family donate to the League of Women Voters of West Virginia at 4112 Coopers Creek Road, Charleston, WV 25312.
Celebration of Jerri's life will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 until time of service at the funeral home.
