He was born April 25, 1921 to George and Agnes Childress Simpson, Sr. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by the love of his life for over 72 years, Kathryn, and daughter, Georgianna Hall.
George was a retired supervisor with Union Carbide with over 35 years of service. He was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and now St. Peters United Methodist Church. He was a WWII Veteran having served in the US Army Air Force. George enjoyed woodworking, was an avid outdoorsman, loved traveling and playing golf.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend that will be missed by all. He is survived by son, Dickie and his wife Sherri, sister, Emma Thomas, brother, Don Simpson, grandchildren: Devlin (Kelly), Russell, Amber Peyton, Zach Peyton, Kathryn (Roddy) Burns, Pam (Steve) Matson, great grandchildren: Cora, Skyler, Bess, Jacob, and Heather.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staffs of Broadmore Assisted Living and HospiceCare for the wonderful care given to George.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 7, 2016 at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, 110 B Street, St. Albans.
Celebration of George’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Barry Moll officiating. Private family entombment will be held at a later date.
