Evelyn Margaret Sparks

Evelyn Margaret Sparks went home to her Lord and Savior on December 1, 2023 at the age of 96. She always brought a smile to everyone's face who knew or didn't know her. She graduated from Ravenna Township High School in 1945. From there, she attended Missionary Training Institute at Alliance University in Nyack, NY. She received her diploma in Theology in 1949 and moved to Washington D.C. where she worked at a children's orphanage. While there, she met and married George Trumbull Sparks in April 1954.

In 1972, she graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor's degree in Education. she then taught in the Kanawha County School system until she retired in 2007. She loved spending time with her family and church family and reading her Bible. She was very much involved wither her church and Christian Missionary Alliance in Charleston, WV. She believed her 'calling' was to financially support missions and missionaries and to uphold them in daily prayers. Thus, she was their 'Prayer Warrior'. She enthusiastically headed up missionary programs and mission Bible lessons for may years at her church. Evelyn is survived by her children, Deborah (James) Lanham and Kenneth (Deborah) Sparks, her grandchildren: Mathew (Hannah) Sparks, Tabitha Sparks Tolly, Geoffrey Lanham, Ashleigh-Marie Lanham and Jacob Lanham. She leaves 3 great grandchildren. Celebration of EVelyn's life will be 1:00 P.M. Friday December 22, 2023 at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home. Gathering of family and friends will be noon until time of service at the funeral home.
