She was born June 23, 1934 in Peoria to Jimmy W. and Ruth Faye (Pittman) Hill. She married Albert Dean Decker on May 18, 1956 in Peoria. He died October 2, 2020 in Indiana. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Shirley Jean Hartsock.
Surviving are one daughter, Janet (Steven) McKee of LaGrange, Indiana; one grandson, Steven McKee of LaGrange, Indiana; one granddaughter, Abigail McKee of Sturgis, Michigan; two great-grandsons, Owen Steven Albert McKee and Zavion Michael Thomas, both of Sturgis, Michigan and one sister, Betty Carter of North Carolina.
She retired in 2004 after working 36 years as a lunchroom supervisor, last working at Creve Coeur School District 76.
Ruth enjoyed shopping and baking and will be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies. Her greatest enjoyment was spending quality time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was an 80-plus year member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Pekin First Church of the Nazarene. Pastor W. Lloyd Brock will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday morning at the church. Burial will be at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens at 1 p.m.
