He was born November 17, 1962 in Peoria to Gail “GR” Richard and Elizabeth “Bettye” (Ryan) Anderson.
Surviving are his sister, Marcia (George) Swords of Hanna City; three nephews, Mike Anderson, Mark Anderson and Stephen Swords; one niece, Pamela Rust and eight great-nieces and great-nephews.
His parents and three brothers, David Anderson, Jeffrey Anderson and Gregory Anderson, preceded him in death.
Matt was a master tradesman in plastering working the last thirty years with his nephew Mark. Matt had love for the outdoors fishing, hiking, hunting, and snowmobiling.
He spent many hours in the garden often with his special helper and friend Corbin. He was an accomplished chef in the kitchen and master of the grill sharing the delicious food he made.
Matt loved his dog, Bart, the two spent many years together including working many worksites together. Loved by his many friends, family, and the neighborhood dogs who will all miss his kindness, generosity, and easy-going spirit.
A gathering celebrating Matt’s life will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the East Peoria Boat Club, 707 Collins Lane, East Peoria, Illinois 61611.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
