Born May 10, 1946 in Edelstein to John and Johanna (Henseler) Schoenbein, Sr., she married Thomas “Tom” C. Stewart on January 16, 1965 in Charleston, South Carolina. He died January 11, 2007 in Creve Coeur. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Tyler Talley and three brothers, John Schoenbein, Robert Schoenbein and Gottifred Schoenbein.
Surviving are six daughters, Sheila (Bret) Fox of Washington, Bonnie (Bob) Worrick of Glasford, Debra (Jason) Talley of Princeville, Mary Powers of Dunlap, Loretta (Chris) Reaska of Chillicothe and Anna (Joe) Suelter of Mossville; seven sons, twins, James (Veronica) Stewart of Farmington and John Stewart of Bloomington, Michael (Diane) Stewart of Williamsburg, Iowa, David Stewart of Creve Coeur, twins, William (Dawn) Stewart of Chillicothe and Robert (Leah) Stewart of East Peoria and Steven Stewart of Creve Coeur. 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Judy (Merle) Huff of Bartonville and Edith Oliver of Dunlap.
Emma was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
A homemaker, Emma enjoyed reading, playing solitaire and spending quality time with her family.
Emma was of the Christian faith.
Her memorial service will be at noon on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at a later date at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
