Born September 24, 1953 in New York, New York to Frank Quiles and Carmen Garcia. She was raised by her step-father, Enrique Melendez. She married Anthony Sobota on June 6, 1998 in the backyard of their Creve Coeur home. He survives.
Also surviving is her mother of New York, NY; one son, Juan (Amanda) Rios, Jr. of Mackinaw; five grandchild, Aaron (Caitlin) Rios, Joanna (Seth) Weeks, Mellissa Rios, Katrina (Brandon) Decker and David Rios; two great-grandchildren, Samuel Weeks and Venus Decker with one on the way; three siblings, Gina Sein, Enrique Melendez, and Rebeca Melendez and many extended family members who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father and three siblings, Jon Quiles, Franklin Quiles and Ana Quiles.
Carmen was retired and attended Riverside Community Church online. She was greatly looking forward to her baptism that was taking place in a few weeks.
She enjoyed baking and spending time with her family.
A celebration of Carmen’s life will be held at a later date in Creve Coeur and New York, New York. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
