My daughter Allison Van Houten wrote the Wright family a letter around Silas's birthday but the letter was returned because we have the wrong address.  Is there anyway someone can provide?

I still remember your birthday party two years ago.  Even though you can't be there for it in the convention sense, happy 16th.  Missing you always.

Dear Nathan and Shelia, It has taken a long time to find any words to express my feelings of grief. I wish I had met Silas. I am thankful for the memorial service and the messages that people have shared. It helps me get to know Silas.  He was obviously well loved and a very special person.

Silas' wish for a legacy "to be a kind person" has stuck with me. He said it was easy to be kind. What a gift he is to the world! His impact is not over. I will remember going forward what Silas has taught us and will look for kindness and joy.

Thank you, Silas, for being such a warm and welcoming friend to Kian, especially when he was the new kid in the middle of middle school (and a pandemic).      Heartbreaking news about Silas's passing.  My deepest sympathy and know you are in thoughts. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to be Silas's first grade teacher.  Silas was kind, gentle and caring.  He  will be remembered and missed.

It was a blessing to get to know Silas during his first weeks of high school. His spirit was apparent, and I loved hearing about the activities he enjoyed. It's always so special to work with students who bring light and smiles to your day, and Silas was that guy. I will always remember him. As a freshman parent, I also know how much he is missed by his peers. My heart goes out in deepest sympathy to Shelia, Nathan, and all of Silas' loved ones.  (Ms. Greves, Monarch High School)

Silas you sweet and gentle soul, you will be terribly missed. 
Sheila and Nate, we hold tremendous space for you in your grief. We offer support and love as you pull yourselves through the agony of this tragic loss. 

We were lucky to meet Silas as a family last January at the horse farm. We were struck by his kindness and sense of humor. My heart was touched simply witnessing him with such a sense of his old soul. It didn't take long to realize his waters run deep...

My husband was the one who helped Silas on the Ultimate Frisbee field last Spring.  We received news of his passing this morning and brought us both to tears.  Our hearts and prayers are with his family at this time.

I only knew Silas for a few weeks, but I will never forget him. He was the first to show up to class every day, always with a smile and often with a question or interesting observation. He was eager to learn and ready to help other students. He brought joy and curiosity to my classroom, and I am so thankful for it. Rest In Peace, Silas. (Mr. Gordon @ Monarch HS)

Dear Shelia, Dear Nathan,
I can't tell you enough the joy Silas brought with him each time he came to visit. He filled my heart and the hearts of my animals... He was so fully present with the horses. Full presence is what horses respond to. He groomed them giving them all his attention, noticing the softness of their coats and the most subtle of their movements. Casper and Spirit's manes had never been so well combed and detangled! He was equally present with the goats, bringing full out his playfulness, just like he did with the dog who was thrilled to have a playmate! He got to meet Kitty too and showed her all his kindness.  We have been so blessed to meet him. His Gentle Soul and Angelic presence will stay in our hearts forever.

Nate & Sheila, we knew your beautiful son through the eyes of John & Glory. We have heard so many wonderful stories and seen so many photos! From day 1, he held such a large part of their hearts. We can't even imagine the grief and loss you are walking through, but we are praying that GOD will give you strength, peace and assurance as only He can. Know that Silas will live on in your hearts and the hearts of family & friends - he will not be forgotten. Silas was a beautiful gift, and that gift will forever walk with you. Silas was the kind of person that made you excited to go to school and to teach. For the last three years I had the joy of having Silas be a kind leader in my classroom and the theatre program. His humor invited everyone around him to be themselves. As a little 6th grader Silas nickname was "meep," which was then copied, and the whole class was now "meep." 25 children bouncing around saying meep and giggling is one of my cherished teaching memories of all time. In 7th and 8th grade Silas would take my teacher badge and be my clone, and then no one could tell who the real Ms. Carmichael was. Sometimes that would mean that he would decide what we did in class that day, which would usually involve a Silas favorite, Grandmas Keys.  Where ever he went he brought fun and laughter. Everyone deserves a friend like Silas. 

I am truly heartbroken to have lost such wonderful person. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and Silas will forever be remembered.

Dear Wright Family,

My heart is aching for you, your family, friends, and for everyone who loved your beautiful son Silas! 
Silas' kindness, his positive outlook, his warm demeanor and gentle spirit has had the power to transform the room he's in. I know this because I saw it first hand in the art classroom at LMS. I find myself looking at his old seat and remembering all the times he sat there laughing with his peers, making the 7th graders feel like part of the group -even as a big 8th grader:) I remember how he’d say “Hi Mrs. Slade!” with a big smile when he walked in; how he’d go out of his way to say "thank you!"  every time he left the room. He would ask regularly what he could to help (EVEN if it was cleaning our messy pottery sinks!) He would remind me nearly every day-in the gentlest of ways- "Mrs. Slade, it's time to clean up!" as I would frequently get too involved in whatever we were working on to notice:) What a stellar human being you raised. 
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this impossibly difficult time. Silas' light will forever shine in those whose lives he touched- mine included. He was and is so loved!
