Sharon Lynn Compestine

Sharon Lynn Compestine was born on May 21, 1956, to Doris Birkett Compestine and Modesto Arthur Compestine in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She passed away suddenly on May 28, 2024, from a heart event at the age of 68. Her sister, Caryn, was with her.

She recently celebrated two years of being cancer free after a battle with breast cancer. Her faith in Jesus Christ was her constant strength during this time.

She was a daughter, sister, and friend. Sharon was reliable, kind, and giving.

Traveling was a favorite past time of hers. Whether it was to Europe with the Girl Scouts or with family or friends, she was always ready to go. She thought we are never too old for those family vacations.

Sharon felt honored to be a First Class Girl Scout. She graduated from Western State College, Gunnison, Colorado, in 1978.

She had a gift for teaching and had a career in high school business and substitute teaching. After her teaching career, she began her next career as a cosmetologist. For the last several years, Sharon was at the 10th Street Barber Shop giving cuts and conversations. Her clients would say that they were there for a good haircut, but it was the lively conversation they enjoyed the most (and she would tell you the same).

She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, serving on the Building Committee. She loved museums and was a volunteer for the Tread of Pioneer Museum in Steamboat Springs for many years. She was also a member of the Historical Society of Oak Creek and Phippsburg.

Sharon had a heart for caregiving. She was a committed caregiver, caring for both of her parents in Steamboat Springs and continued to care for her mom with her sister, Caryn, in Fargo, North Dakota.

She is preceded in death by her father, Modesto Arthur Compestine. She is survived by her mother, Doris Birkett Compestine, and her sister, Caryn Ann Compestine. Graveside services will be held at Fairmount Cemetery in Denver, Colorado, at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choosing.
