Craig, Colorado resident Mary Jane (Schneider) Montoya went Home on Friday, May 15, 2020 at Memorial Hospital in Craig. She was 80. Mary Jane was born on September 16, 1939 in Oak Creek, Colorado to Carl George Schneider and Naevis Ameijeiras. She married Anthony (Tony) A. Montoya Jr., her loving husband of nearly 50 years, on December 15, 1956 and graduated from Moffat County High School in 1957. She enjoyed a long-time career as a switchboard operator at Mountain Bell where she made many friends and retired when the company closed its switchboard operations in Craig. An entrepreneur, Mary Jane then opened her own fitness studio called Inch Busters and assisted her husband Tony with their multiple business ventures. Mary Jane found joy travelling and living an outdoor lifestyle. She liked to golf and play cards with her friends, ski and camp. She was also involved with the Jayce-Ettes, the River Rats and the Women’s Golf Association. She was a strong, fun-loving, generous and positive person with a deep Christian faith. Above all, Mary Jane loved her family and was a loved mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her daughter Michelle Favorel; sons Mark (Shelly) Montoya and Donald Lynn Montoya; sisters-in-law Rose Hutton and Mira Muirhead; grandkids Miguel (Melissa) Favorel, Ashley (Ebin) Latrimurti, Tara Montoya, Jesse Montoya, Madison Montoya and Rylan Montoya; great grandchildren Zerik Favorel, Kailah Favorel, Jordan Latrimurti, Danielle Latrimurti, Kali Walton, Marques Montoya, Khloe Walton, Kaysli Walton, Makyah Montoya and Kymber Walton, who lovingly called her “Honey,” and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband Tony; parents Carl and Naevis Schneider; stepmothers Florence and Pearl Schneider, and sisters Margaret Ann Kelly and Grace Schneider. An outdoor service led by Pastor Leonard Browning will be held at The Journey At First Baptist on Thursday, May 28 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Journey At First Baptist in memory of Mary Jane.
