A celebration of Lilly’s life will be held at the family ranch on Saturday, October 10th, 2020 at 1:00 pm.
Lilly Jane Mead was born the daughter of Donal “Leroy” Mead and Carol Elsie (Conner) Mead on February 16, 1944. She spent her childhood on the family ranch and attended school in Hamilton. Lilly graduated from Moffat County High School with the class of 1963.
While attending high school, Lilly met the love of her life, Donald M. Johnson, Jr. On June 2, 1963, Lilly and Donald were married and to this union, two daughters were born. The couple resided in Craig for 16 years before moving to the family ranch near Hamilton, where she lived for the remainder of her life. When she was raising her family, Lilly was a stay at home mom. She found employment after the kids were in school at Coast to Coast, where she worked for many years before the store closed. In addition, Lilly enjoyed working on the family ranch caring for her livestock. Lilly and Don celebrated 44 years of marriage together before Don’s passing on April 7, 2008.
In her spare time, Lilly loved decorating cakes for special occasions. She also enjoyed crafting and had a special love for her animals. Above all, Lilly was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege to love and know her.
Lilly is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn Hering of Hamilton and Mary Ann (Doug) Walsh of Grand Junction; two brothers, Charlie Mead of Craig and Alan Mead of Hamilton; and one sister, Sandra (Caleo) Sallee of Scappoose, OR. Lilly is further survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous others she thought of as her own grandchildren.
Lilly was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
