Katherine Sue Bassett

Katherine (Kathy Sue) Shoenhair Bassett was born January 12, 1944 in Creston, Iowa and passed away February 18, 2023. She attended school in Creston and graduated from Creston High School in May of 1962. She then moved to Denver, Colorado where she went to work for Western Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company. She worked there until her marriage to Roland Murray Morrison. Of this union were born three daughters, Suzy, Marilyn and Jane. The marriage was dissolved in 1970.

Kathy was proceeded in death by her father, Kenneth D. Shoenhair Sr., November 7, 2002 and her mother, Catherine M. (Brown) Shoenhair, September 15, 2017. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Suzy Naschansky, Marilyn Morrison, and Jane Beaver all from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota. She leaves behind 8 Grandchildren, Christina, Cassandra and Roxana (Suzy), Nicole, Carrie and Daunell (Marilyn) Logan and Jade (Jane). She also leaves 8 great grandchildren, Derek, Samantha, Samara, Antonio, Marissa, Sebastian, Sophia and Damian. Surviving brothers include Kenneth D. (Pam) Shoenhair, Jr. of Creston, Iowa (niece Jody and nephew Matt), Richard Allen (Robin) Shoenhair, Austin, Colorado and half-sister, Jennie Ann Layne of Clarinda, Iowa, as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

There will be no church service but rather a memorial graveside service at Maybell Cemetery in Maybell, Colorado. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2023, at the Maybell Cemetery in Maybell, Colorado.
