David James Funk

Life-long resident of Hayden, David James Funk died May 4, 2023. He was born January 22, 1959 to James David Funk and Avis C (Hooker) Funk. He was 65. A grandson of pioneering homesteaders James and Pearl Funk, David graduated from Hayden High School and worked as a rancher alongside his father. He particularly loved raising Angus cattle. He also worked for a time at the Yampa Valley Regional Airport. Dave was also active in the Hayden community, volunteering and serving on the board of the West Routt Fire District, and serving in the Upper Yampa Valley Water Conservancy Board and the Routt County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Hayden Congregational Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving relatives include an aunt, Elsie Funk, and multiple cousins. His friends and family remember him for always having something to say.
