A native of Plaquemines Parish, she resided in Mandeville, Louisiana for the last 27 years. She graduated from Braithwaite High School and received a BS degree in business education from Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette. Shirley enjoyed fellowship with her Delta Sigma Delta sorority sisters and was a member of the Red Jackets, Kappa Delta Pi and Vermillion Honor Society. Her work career included teaching and Personnel Director for Plaquemines Parish Government. She retired from her position in Human Resources to travel to many countries abroad with her friends. She was a faithful volunteer at Head Start and Volunteers of America. Her hobbies included travel, sewing, cooking, gardening and playing cards with her lady friends, but her passion was spending time with her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by five sons: Dr. Lawrence L. Capone, Jr. (Judy), Dr. Kenneth Capone (Lynne), Dr. Keith Capone, LtCol Brian Capone (Molly) and Todd Capone. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, brother, E.J. Grob and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, Earl and Leah Grob, sisters, Evelyn Culotta and Earline Grob and brother, Roland Grob. Shirley was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Mandeville.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation and services at Grace Funeral Home at 450 Holy Trinity Drive in Covington, Louisiana on Monday, June 21, 2021. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM to 12 Noon with Memorial Mass at Noon in the Grace Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private at St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden.
