Manuel G. Gutierrez, Jr., aged 89, passed away on November 22, 2024, at his home in Mandeville, LA. Born on August 24, 1935, in New Orleans, LA, he grew up in nearby Metairie. Manuel completed his education at Holy Cross High School followed by earning both a bachelor's degree and a juris doctorate from Loyola University.
He had a distinguished career as a banker with the Whitney Bank in New Orleans and with First National Bank located in St. Tammany Parish and later as an attorney for the FDIC in Dallas. After his retirement he turned his attention to painting, becoming an award-winning artist.
A devout Catholic, Manuel was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church and later at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Manuel is survived by his loving wife, Agatha (Knesel) Gutierrez; sons, Manuel G. Gutierrez, III (Kay), David Gutierrez (Angela), and Daniel Gutierrez (Desirea); grandchildren, R.J. Gutierrez (Stephanie), Christina Gutierrez, Brennan Gutierrez (Katie), and Peyton Gutierrez; great-grandchildren, Ari and Ely; and numerous siblings, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel G. Gutierrez, Sr. and Luz America (Rodriguez) Gutierrez; his son, Mark Gutierrez; and one brother and one sister.
Visitation will be held at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433, on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will follow at Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
