Linton Joseph “L.J.” Vegas, Jr., age 73, of Covington, LA passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023. He was born on February 22, 1950 in Houma, LA to Linton Joseph Vegas, Sr. and Gloria Theresa (Adams) Vegas.
Linton is survived by his wife Penny (Palmisano) Vegas; his daughters Trisha Vegas and Anita Vegas; and 2 grandchildren, Britni Vegas and Andrew Erlich. He is also survived by his 2 brothers, Brian Vegas (Lucille) and Monty Vegas (Audrey), and his sister, Christine Vegas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Linton is preceded in death by his parents, Linton Joseph Vegas, Sr. and Gloria Theresa Adams Vegas.
Linton graduated from Nicholls State University in Thibodeaux, LA and went on to have a variety of careers. He was a teacher, owned his own drive-through restaurant, became an LPN, and was an electrician for Conoco for a number of years before retirement. He loved birds, fishing with his grandson, Andrew, and crabbing down at Grand Isle. He loved to eat crawfish and crabs and anything sweet and enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. He was an avid New Orleans Saint fan and had season tickets for years. Anyone who knew L.J. knew what a peaceful man he was, what a wonderful sense of humor he had, and that he loved His Savior, Jesus. He consistently served at Church of the King, where everyone seemed to know and love him. He was a devoted husband and father and a true blessing all around. He will be dearly missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial services at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 1:00 PM with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM.
Burial will follow the services in St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden, adjacent to Grace Funeral Home.
