Lawrence James Reed Jr.

Lawrence James Reed Jr, lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA passed away at the age of 72 on September 23, 2021 due to COVID pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline Lassus and dearly loved father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Octavie Plaeger. Lawrence was the devoted husband of Carol Plaeger Reed, his wife of 54 years. He was a proud Daddy to Tammie Lehmann (Jeff Willis) of Nashville, TN, Donna Cousins (Mike Cousins) of Denham Springs, LA, and Michael Reed (Gretchen Reed) of Houston, TX. He was a loving Paw-Paw to 5 grandchildren, Randy Lehmann (Rachel), Shaun Lehmann (Leighann), Cameron Cousins, Shannon Cousins and Jackson Reed, and 5 great-grandchildren, Sydney, Skylar, Aubrey, Rylee and Easton Reed, and 1 great –great-grand baby, Kinsley Rae. He also leaves behind his siblings, Carol Sellers, Butch Bourgeois (Priscilla), Sue Bond (Mike), and Janet Reed. Lawrence was a self-employed licensed electrician and an employee of the Orleans Parish school board, retiring as a supervisor of the AC/Heat Dept. after 32 years. He was an avid fisherman and loved being on the water. He loved pulling for his Saints since Tulane Stadium. A friend to everyone he met, he would lend a helping hand whenever needed and there was nothing he could not build or fix. He leaves behind wonderful memories of a life well lived with his wife and family. He was taken from us much too soon, he will be greatly missed by many. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Dr. Covington, LA. Visitation will be held from 10AM – 12PM with a prayer service to begin at 12PM. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in his memory to your local animal shelter or rescue organization.
