Lance was a native New Orleanian who graduated from Jesuit High School, Notre Dame University and Tulane Law School. After practicing law for several years, Lance joined his family’s businesses of Southern Heater and Lammatt Agency.
Lance was a true gentleman, who loved his family and friends until the end. He was an artist, musician and foodie. His Catholic faith was paramount and a constant in his life. Lance was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an appointed member of the Order of St. Louis.
Lance is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence F. Babst, Sr. and Loretto Morvant Babst and his brother, Gerard E. Babst.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Linda Guedry Babst; his six daughters, Mary (Rod) Vedros, Laura (David) Selby; Kay Babst, Alice Babst, M.D., Anne Griepsma and Margaret Babst; his stepchildren, Steven (Wendy) Hymel, Judy (Chris) Brouillette, Donna Hymel and Michael (Gina) Hymel, and 19 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Jane Truett, Loretto Stephens, Walter Babst and Jimmy Babst and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church located at 501 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, Louisiana, 70433. Visitation from 10am-12pm with Mass following a 12pm. Burial immediately following at St. Lazarus Bethany Memorial Garden.
