Joseph Anthony LaBruzza, Sr., a resident of Mandeville, LA, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at the age of 82. He was born on February 27, 1941 to Anthony Lawrence LaBruzza, Sr. and Johnnie Mae McGee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Lawrence LaBruzza, Sr. and Johnnie Mae McGee, his step-father Guy Clark Heckathorn, and his brothers Sammie Clifton LaBruzza, Kenneth Clark Heckathorn, Robert James Heckathorn, and Aubre Jacob Heckathorn.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathryn Schmitz LaBruzza, his children Elizabeth Knight (David), Joseph A. LaBruzza, Jr., Rebecca A. LaBruzza (Jamie Wallis) and Brian P. LaBruzza; his brother Anthony Lawrence LaBruzza (Linda) and his sister Alice Jean Johnson (Ferrell) as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joseph was proud to serve in the U.S. Army for 8years. He was a member of the Local 60 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union as a welder. He worked in construction for 30 years in St. Tammany Parish.
The family would like to extend special recognition and thanks to Eileen Burlette, for providing loving care during his final days. The family would also like to acknowledge the caring staff of Vital Care Group.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 12:00 PM with visitation on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 AM.
Burial will follow the services in St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden under the direction of Grace Funeral Home. Following burial and military honors, there will be a reception at Grace Funeral Home until 2:00 PM
