Joseph Edward Joyner, Sr., age 90, of Mandeville, La passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 30, 2024. He was born on October 24, 1934, in New Orleans, La to the late Garrit B. and Hilda (Burkart) Joyner.
Joseph is survived by his devoted children Brenda Joyner Pickens (Thomas), Joseph Joyner Jr. (Michelle), Sandra Joyner Platt (Jeffrey); and his cherished grandsons Christopher Michael Platt (Megan) and Nicholas Joseph Platt (Brenna). He is also survived by his loving sister Agatha H. Joyner “Sissy”.
Joseph is preceded in death by his beloved wife Marilyn Van Horn Joyner who he was married to for 49 years.
He was a graduate of Redemptorist High School in New Orleans, La. and employed by Howard, Weil, Labouisse, Friedrichs, Inc. for 40 years as an Investment Broker.
Joe was a resident of Metairie for over 30 years and enjoyed retirement at his farm in Husser, La. He loved spending time with his animals and grandsons.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Services at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, La. 70433 on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.
Burial will take place in a private ceremony for immediate family in St. Dominic Cemetery, Husser, La. under the direction and care of Grace Funeral Home.
The family of Joseph Joyner Sr. would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to Ana Davila (friend and caretaker) and to the caregivers of Interim Hospice. Joe will be forever missed by his family and friends.
