John is survived by his beloved wife Minelle of 31 years; his children Colleen Davis and husband Lance of Flint, TX; John Christopher "Chris" Evanco and wife Tamie of Prairieville, LA; Katy Brown and husband Brian of Cherry Hills Village, CO; Kelly Bentley and companion Brian Michel of Lake Charles, LA, and Katherine Carter and husband Cade of Covington, LA. He is survived by 9 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren and Lulu, his beloved miniature Schnauzer.
John is preceded in death by his son John Nicolas “Nicky” Evanco and his parents.
John graduated from Louisiana State University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering. John received his Professional Engineering license on September 8, 1964, in Petroleum and Civil engineering and was recognized by the State of Louisiana for 50 years of licensure as a professional engineer. John worked for 46 years at the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. John also served in the United States Army Reserve for 28 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He enjoyed golf, cross word puzzles, spending time in his backyard bird watching and growing satsumas.
