Gregory Michael Whitehurst Sr., age 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Covington, LA on Saturday, August 6, 2022. He was born on July 15, 1953 to the late Claude and Kathleen Hennessey Whitehurst. Greg is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 48 years, Debbie Buhler Whitehurst, sons, Greg Whitehurst Jr. and Jason Whitehurst, daughter, Shannon Bordes (Johnny), his three grandsons, Bryce, Brady, and Brooks Bordes, sister, Claudia Devine, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Samuel and Carolyn Buhler, his nephews, Jeff Devine, Samuel Buhler (Dana), and Brandon Buhler, and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Kathleen Hennessey Whitehurst, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Samuel and Lula Leblanc Buhler, brother, Glen Whitehurst, and brother-in-law, Bill Devine, nephews, Brad Devine and Scott Buhler, and niece Sharon Buhler.
Greg graduated from Brother Martin High School, Class of 1972 and went on to graduate from UNO. He had a successful 35 year career with Domino Sugar as a National Sales Manager. He was a longtime Saints fan and an avid golfer. Since his retirement in early 2020, he has enjoyed taking trips with his wife and spending time with his family and many friends. He was the proud “Pawpey” of his grandsons and could always be found attending their athletic events or spending time with them. He had a love of cars and enjoyed car shows and events with his Porsche Club friends. Greg never met a stranger.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at MOST HOLY TRINITY, 501 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, on Friday morning, August 12, 2022 at 11:00. Visitation will begin in church at 10:00. A private inurnment will follow services.
