Alan Frederick Whiting

Alan Frederick Whiting, age 79, of Waldheim, Louisiana passed away on Monday, January 10th, 2022. He was born on October 15th, 1942, in Montour Falls, New York to Richard Laverne Whiting and Hila Elaine Knowles Whiting.

Alan Frederick Whiting is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Paulette Whiting, his daughters, ten grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother and is preceded in death by his sister.

Alan enlisted in the United States Navy and served 24 years upon retirement. He was deployed to Vietnam as a medical corpsman during war time. He also served two tours of duty aboard the USS Prairie AD-15.

He ranked as an E-8 Senior Chief upon retirement.

As a civilian, he continued to work in hospitals as an x-ray technician in southeast Louisiana until his full retirement.

Late in life, Alan enjoyed living in the country until his passing. Amongst his favorite things to do were spend time with his family, embrace the outdoors, and serve in his local church. Alan was served in prison ministry, men’s Bible study groups, Celebrate Recovery, and he taught Sunday school. He always served in his local church and community.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services in Slidell at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery located at 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, LA 70460.
