Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Victoria Lynn Gee was no exception. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Vicki will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Vicki’s life journey began on February 27, 1954. She first greeted the world at Huntington Memorial Hospital. Her parents' names were Joyce and Leland Gee. She grew up in Alhambra, California. Growing up for Vicki was an involving experience. It allowed her to learn and grow and create all kinds of memories.
A lot of what shaped Vicki’s life was how she was raised. She was raised with four siblings. She had one older brother, Mike, two younger brothers, John and Russ and one younger sister, Tina. Vicki was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced the typical rivalries of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young girl, Vicki had a number of interests. She was curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it. Vicki was an active child who enjoyed a number of different activities, including volleyball. A number of things caught her interest. As a child she practiced ballet and loved to draw. She loved animals.
In school, Vicki learned many things and made many friends. Vicki managed to accomplish many things as a child, both in and out of the classroom. Some of Vicki's biggest accomplishments during this time included becoming an accomplished dancer. However, to Vicki, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with her friends. Vicki also went on some family trips occasionally during her childhood. In all, Vicki grew up surrounded by family and friends who cared about her very much.
Many things change when a person becomes old enough to go to high school; Vicki was no different. She was a typical teenager who had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from San Gabriel Mission High School. Vicki tried to be involved in a number of different activities, both in and out of school, during these years.
After high school, the next big step in a person’s life is heading off to college. How someone reacts to the freedom and responsibility shows a great deal about their character and the person they will become. Vicki enjoyed her college years. Though it was a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied it, she was able to manage the balancing act. Vicki earned her diploma as a Dental Assistant at Bryman College in Alhambra, California. College allows a person to become more focused in their studies but also opens up whole new horizons for one to explore. Though awards weren’t the reason she worked hard in college, Vicki was recognized for her efforts.
. Vicki was not blessed with children of her own yet became the most beloved "2nd Mom" to her fourteen nieces and nephews and two godchildren.
Vicki enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite places included Solvang, Pismo Beach and Seattle
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Vicki enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Vicki worked diligently and did her best to succeed in each of her jobs. While she worked several jobs over her life, Vicki’s primary occupation was working as a Dental Assistant for 25 years and then as a Daycare Aide at South Hills Academy for 10 years. Though Vicki didn’t work for accolades, she was recognized for a job well done.
Vicki always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Vicki enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including playing Bunko and loving her nieces, nephews and great-nephews. She also liked arts and crafts. She was usually willing to share her interests with others.
A person’s faith says a great deal about them. Some people are raised with strong beliefs while others garner them throughout their life. Vicki’s faith was important to her. Vicki was a member of All Souls Church for 40 years and St. Louise de Marillac for 16 years. During that time, she was active in the Teen Club and sang with the guitar group at All Souls in the 70's. She was a frequent volunteer at her nieces and nephews church fairs and bazaars.
Vicki Gee left us on April 1, 2011. She passed away Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora, California. She was 57 years old. She is survived by her mother Joyce, her brothers Mike, John and Russ, her sister Tina, three sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, 6 nieces, 6 nephews and 2 great-nephews. Services were handled by Custer Christiansen Mortuary in Covina, California.
So this is Vicki’s life, the sum of the woman that she became. Simply stated, Vicki was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Vicki leaves behind her a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Victoria Lynn Gee touched will always remember her with a smile.
