John Patrick Brennan passed away on May 17, 2012. Known by all as "Pat", he died peacefully at his home in La Puente, CA. in the company of family and care givers. Pat is survived by Lucille Ann, his wife of 65 years, his children Cecilia, Gary, Pat, Theresa, Kathleen, Matt, Mary Ellen, Kevin, Melissa and John; 18 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. His son Mark died in 1979. A Rosary will be held at Custer Christiansen Mortuary located at 124 S. Citrus Ave., Covina, CA on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 555 N. Glendora Ave., La Puente, CA. Burial to follow the Funeral Mass at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2161 Fullerton Rd, Rowland Heights, CA.
Born on March 26,1924 in Boise, Idaho, and raised in Mt Vernon, WA, Pat served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps In the Pacific Area during WWII. In 1946, he joined the Los Angeles Police Department, serving for 30 years and retiring as a Lieutenant. He then worked for ten years as an Investigator in the DA's Office of San Bernardino County. During these working years, Pat earned Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Public Administration at Pepperdine University. In retirement he served as a volunteer for the LASD Senior Patrol Program at Industry Sheriff Station. Pat was an active member of St Joseph Catholic Church in La Puente for 57 years, serving as an usher and member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Elks ( BPOE ) Lodge, West Covina.
