William Alfred Huggins

It is with great sadness that the family of William Alfred (Alf) Huggins, announce his passing suddenly at home, Tuesday, July 25th, 2017, in his 76th year. Alf will forever be remembered in the hearts of his family. Cherished husband of Marguerite (nee Price) for almost 55 years. Beloved Father to Alfie, Rob (Monica), Ken (Anne), Sandi (Dave) and Suzy (Scott). Admired, proud and loving Gramps to Xander, Bronwyn, Mitchell, Brock, Zachary, Adam, Caitlin, Bryce, Carter, Brendan, Garrett, Kye (Shannon), Liam and Kiera. Alf was the 2nd of 8 children of Elmer and Beatrice Huggins (both predeceased). Dear nephew of Lois Frisby, Thelma Jordan and Maurice Butt. Loved brother of Clarence (Linda), Mabel (Kevin), Sharon (Don), Jo-anne, John, Richard (Wanda) and Rita. He will be fondly remembered by his in-laws Dorothy, David (Cherie), Calvin (Anna) and predeceased by Sam. Affectionately remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Alf is greatly missed by his loyal dog Koodo. Alf retired from General Motors after 31 years. He was a very active participant in both the Durham Region Soccer Association and Scouts Canada for more than 30 years. Friends and family are invited to the Courtice Funeral Chapel, 1587 Highway #2 Courtice (905-432-8484), on Friday, July 28th, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Service to celebrate his life will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, July 29th, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery, Courtice. Reception to be held at Salvation Army, Bowmanville Community Church, 75 Liberty Street South, Bowmanville. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
