I played slo pitch with Ron back in the day on the Gleeners team. I was saddened to hear of his passing. He was always such a generous person. My condolences to his family.

I just heard the very sad news of Ron's passing. "Ronnie" was a great friend, a great baseball player and a very kind soul. Rest in peace my friend. Sincerest condolences to all Ron's family and friends.

I have been reading all the tributes to Ron and realize what a wonderful person he became.It has been many years since we saw the Potter family, but have thought of them often. Our deepest sympathy to all the family. Rest in peace Ron.

Thinking about all my Potter cousins, especially Bill, Brian (Karen) and Braden at this sad time. I'm very glad Ron was able to attend our family reunion a couple of years ago. Living so far away I didn't know him well but I have enjoyed reading the many heartfelt memories his friends and former colleagues have posted on this site. RIP Ron.

It has been many years since we last saw Ron but I will always remember Ron and his quick wit and never ending smiles.

Karen, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. It was always a pleasure caring for Ron, he will be missed.

I only had the joy of knowing Ron for a few short years, but as he did with everyone, as I now know, he made me feel welcome and treated me like a long lost friend immediately. He was a truly gentle lovely man, a big man in every sense of the word, and I feel privileged to have known him, to share his love for life and seats at the baseball. Such a sad loss!

My very first day at Scarborough North, I walked in the door and there was Ron standing there in a full warm-up suit!  All I could think to myself was, is this what government workers really wear to work?!?!  He introduced himself and from that time on I was honoured to call him my friend.

He was such a wonderfully kind and caring man and I feel very privilaged to have know him for the many years that I did.  It was so very touching for me to see pictures of my daughter sitting on Ron's lap at one of the many Christmas parties that he played Santa for. 

Ron, thank you for all of the laughs and for always being such a genuine person!

After almost 25 years of being friends with Ron, there are so many memories of him that come to mind that it puts a smile on my face every time.  

From all the old office "A" pranks, hijinks, and laughs with the boys, after work "events",  football pools, hockey pools, "Amazing A's" office ball games, ball games and tournys with the "Wild Thangs" and "Smokin' Crows", to the ski trips, cottage trips, and weddings we attended, there was never a dull moment with Ron.  I cannot remember one time where we did NOT end up laughing and joking over something.

There were more than a few occasions where Ron was the butt of the joke and the boys were riding him to no end.  But to his credit, he always took it in stride without ever getting upset and gave it back as good as he got from us.

Many times Ron and I were the last ones left at the bar after everyone else had gone, having that one (or two) last drink – laughing, joking and sharing stories.  He would always milk a good time to the very end.

I am fortunate to have known Ron and even more honoured to call him a friend.  I will always remember him for the vibrant, fun person that he was, and for the courageous battle he fought at the end.  

My deepest condolences go out to the Potter family during this difficult time.

Thanks for all the great memories Ron.  You were a good man, gone way too soon.

It is really sad to hear about Ron's passing.  He is too young to leave us this soon.  Though I hadn't worked with him on the same team at SNESS, we were in the same training group one time for those 1-day training in downtown many years ago.  I still remember he had shared with us his childhood experiences.  He is such a caring, cheerful, gentle, sincere, warm...guy.  He will be forever missed by his family and friends. My sincerest condolences to Ron's family.  I knew Ron through work and knew him to be such a kind-hearted gentleman.  He truly enjoyed making people laugh and he was loved by everyone!  His many friends at the City of Toronto, Employment & Social Services, miss him dearly.

Very sad to hear this news!  I will always remember the good family memories we shared together, especially each Christmas Eve.

As I read all the comments I am either smiling or crying.  I met Ron in the 90's at the O'Connor office or "A" in the old days.  We were on the same team and shared many stories and we were on the "Amazing A's" baseball team.  What fun we all had both at the games and the after parties.  When I was pregnant, Ron brought me a muffin almost every morning. He also came to the hospital to see my daughter and brought her a little stuffed animal. He even brought me a framed picture when he came to my Christmas gathering. He was also so thoughtful and quick to laugh.  I missed him when he transfered to "W".  I enjoyed all the times when we were able to reconnect through work (retirement parties/training, etc).  We shared the old stories, laughs and caught up on new life events.  My husband and I will miss him and are glad he was a part of our lives.  My condolences to Ron's family.  He will be missed, but never forgotten, he will live on in our memories.

I worked with Ron for years at Scarborough North and what a pleasure it was.  Ron always had an easy going and happy disposition.  We have lost a great soul and he will be missed but his memory will live on in every life that he has touched.  RIP Ron..

There's a foot of glistening snow outside. Even though the sun is shining, I can feel the cold and heaviness in my heart.

Ron is gone and I feel numb. 

I have flashes of memories working with Ron. We were partners at our office's front desk as resource workers servicing the homeless, clients in crisis situations and funeral applications. 

It was great working with Ron because he had a perfect attendance record and was very resourceful. 

We backed each other up especially when we encountered difficult interviewees. 

"Check on me in 5 minutes."

I always felt safe with Ron because he always delivered. His sense of humour and quirkiness made us good working buddies. 

I remembered when my mom passed away, he tried to confront me by sharing his feelings when his mom had passed.

"Things will get better, you'll see. Time will heal and you will cherish the good times."

Ron was a conscientious worker. He helped to implement the "Scheduler" at our office. Even when he was ill, he would phone from home and see if there was any procedural problems. 

Karma has it, we worked on the same team again at the YMCA Employment Centre. Ron had such presence that often people thought he was the manager.

I was working on a resume with a client when Ron approached us. The client said, "Give her a raise," and Ron responded," Consider it done!"

One time during a group session Ron demonstrated how to dance and the audience loved it. I can still picture him moving in rhythm with one hand up "turning the light bulb" and the other hand "patting the dog."

I will miss his sense of humour, dedication, warm personality, willingness to help others and above all, courage.

I am truly sorry to hear that this wonderful man is no longer with us. I had the great pleasure of working with him when I was at Scarborough North. He always made my day. He always had a smile , was so very encouraging. He was heartwarming and very lovable. My deepest condolences to the family. May he rest in peace.

I met Ron in 1992, my first day at a new job with TESS. I walked in nervous and left laughing. Ron made me feel so welcome and that never stopped. He was full of life and made everyone around him smile daily with his stories and pranks and there were lots of pranks. My condolences to the Potter family. Rest in peace Ron.

Over the past week, we have really found ourselves at a lost for words. How can one person describe who our Uncle Ron truly was and yet this Guest Book is filled with loving memories and deepest condolences. 

To me, my Uncle was the dedicated, warm, and heavy hearted person that I only hope I can be the half of, when it comes to my own nieces. He brought more then just a smile to our faces with ease, he was our laughter. He was selfless, a proud Uncle, and always more then willing to lend advice or a helping hand. It's amazing to hear through all these stories, that Ron was with us, exactly who he was with anyone that was lucky enough to have met him. 

I am proud to share his name within mine. He is a great man that we were lucky enough to have but now have to share with our other loved ones that have been patiently waiting.

I had the pleasure of working with Ron at Scarborough North.  He was always full of light and life.  His smile and laughter were contagious. You have been missed greatly in the office.  Ron always enjoyed sharing his stories of his family.  He shared his love of baseball and hockey.  Ron thank you for all the laughs, your kindness and caring spirit.  I transferred from East York  to Scarb North in 2009 and finally put a face to all the fun loving stories I heard about Ron from my sister ( Brenda Carr) who worked closely with Ron at Scarb North.  I had my introductions to new staff and Ron was so warm and made me feel  so welcome.  He was so dedicated to his job and the people that he helped.  Clearly, he was also so dedicated to his family and the people he loved. 

I would sometimes run into Ron at the South Courtice Hockey arena, Orono  arena or Newcastle arena. He would be there watching his nephew play hockey , truly his nephew's biggest fan!!  He didn't let his illness get in the way and would bring along his oxygen and a big proud smile!!  He always asked me about my kids, my sister and had such a genuine , pleasant and warm way about him.  A true gentlemen. 
My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very sad time.  We will all miss you Ron..you a truly one of a kind.

I worked with Ron for a short time but I'll always remember his laugh, and kind spirit.  Always one to bring a smile to peoples faces no matter what the situation.  A great story teller (some of them I am still convinced were fictional) and could crack a joke like no other.

I know personally I will never forget when he said "Nadia, the drive on the 401 was not bad, but since you moved to Courtice this year, traffic is crazy" that was Ron, What a character he was, I remember fondly Fridays @ 4:00pm was exciting for Team 10 and EA team as Ron entertained us with his impression of the Indian Dance, he had everyone laugh including the Manager who would smile and tell us to keep it down. I've read all of the incredible, kind words of all of those who have posted through a veil of tears - so many stories of what an amazing man Ron was. As an adult, I regret not having spent more time not only with Ron, but all of the "Potter boys".  Our moms grew up together - I have so many amazing memories of many summers with "the boys" - they weren't ever just my "cousins" - they were brothers from another mom.  And, this was never more apparent than the summer we all travelled to Daytona Beach.  A whole lifetime ago, but amazing memories - in particular, I remember buying a bathing suit when we arrived there - one that wasn't unlike any that the other girls my age were wearing.  I remember Ron being the MOST vocal of the boys - "YOU CAN'T WEAR THAT!!"  I remember laughing, and saying "But, the other girls are?!" and him telling me "thats them, NOT YOU!" The world is a sadder place after having lost Ron.. but I know that the stars shine brighter with him being in heaven.  Thoughts and prayers to all of "the boys" and your families during this time.  With MUCH affection, always.

I would like to offer my sincere condolences on the loss of your precious brother and uncle Ron. I was devestated to hear of his passing far too soon and far too young. Ron was one of the first people I became friends with when I transferred to Scarborough North in 2003. Over the years we shared many a cup of coffee at 'The View' as we called morning break. Ron affectionatly called us 'the old yentas' and always had us laughing with his stories. Pub nights were always welcome and fun with Ron. He took great fun in teasing me at our work softball tournaments and I'm sure took pity on my lack of hitting skills. Thankfully I was on his team and not subjected to his pitching ability. He was a great pitcher for us for many years. 
Ron was a kind, generous and loving friend, always willing to offer a helping hand.
He spoke so fondly and with pride of his family and loved you all so much.
Rest in peace Ron, until we meet again.

Reading all these wonderful tributes and accolades to my cousin makes me regret that I didn't spend more quality time with him. Yes, I knew he was a wonderful individual just as his parents were and his brothers are. I just wish that I spent the time to learn in more depth just how wonderful he was.

Ron was a dear friend and co-worker of mine for several years at Scarborough North Social Services. Ron always had this amazing ability to make me laugh and enjoy myself at work. Ron and I, Claudia Ceres and including my three children will never forget the things he did for us and the time we spent together, I have know Ron for over 20 years, we worked together at TESS and he made work fun and at the same time worth coming to. Monday night Jan. 26 when I went over to drop off some dinner for him, he told me that this day was one of his bad ones, we just looked at each other and I gave him a big hug and told him that I love him and he said I do too!     Ron may you rest in peace now my dear friend and I will see you again!!!
