I was shocked and so saddened to hear the news about Ms. MacDonald's passing. She was such a wonderful teacher and a positive role model in my life. Her passion and commitment to the Heart and Stroke Foundation has inspired me ever since I met her and continues to resonate with me to this day. I wish I could tell her how influential she has been to me. She will truly be missed.

Ms. MacDonald was my grade 7 teacher for the 1999-2000 school year. I remember her fondly. My best friend and also one of Ms. MacDonald's students, informed me of her tragic death and I am deeply saddened by the news. She was a great and caring teacher. I'll never forget her.

To Bernadette's family:  Very sad to hear about her passing.  She and I had many fun times together growing up.  My family and I send our deepest condolences.

I was very much saddened by the news of Bernadette's passing.  She was a wonderful teacher and gave my granddaughter Tamsine an incredible understanding of mathematics as well as kindled an interest in art (water colours in particular).  She will be greatly missed particularly by those children she taught so well. Tamsine & Mary Gervais.

Our prayers and thoughts are with the MacDonald family during this sorrowful time.  Ms. MacDonald taught our son, Trevor in grade 3 at St. John Bosco Catholic School in Oshawa from 2005-2006.  She had a very special bond with our son, because he told her that his mom was from Nova Scotia too. She was a dedicated teacher who loved teaching children.  Also, I had the opportunity to teach with Ms. MacDonald during my early years at St. John Bosco as a Occasional teacher when my family and I moved out to the Durham region from Toronto.  She was a "True Maritimer" like myself hailing from Antigonish.  She spoke highly of her home "Cape Breton". We will treasure the great memories close to our hearts now and forever.   May God grant you all strength and comfort in the days ahead.  Rest in peace Ms. MacDonald.

I was so saddened to hear of this trajedy. Ms. MacDonald taught both my boys (Aidan gr. 3 & Alex gr. 2) at St. John Bosco. She was a wonderful lady and teacher. Our deepest sympathy to her family.

I was so sorry to hear of Bernadette's passing. I grew up on Grand Lake Road and attended school with her. Bernadette was in my class throughout grade school and I remember her with great fondness. I teach in Manitoba and I wish I had known where Bernadette was living - I would love to have reconnected with her. My Dad (Dougal was also a great friend of Martin's. Dad worked at the pumping station in Grand Lake and enjoyed many visits from Martin and Tiny. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
