Stewart and I had much in common. We were both immigrants from Scotland and had moved to the same new subdivision on the west mountain in Hamilton. I was in and out of the Rennie family home often and have fond memories from those years. I visited him on the Island many years ago and I did have occasion to meet Dierdre but unfortunately lost touch over the subsequent years. I am happy to hear that my friend lived a good life surrounded by friends and family and working in a capacity that he enjoyed. Out of touch but never out of mind.

Remembering Stewart: Stu was a positive presence wherever and whatever he was doing. Great Fisherman to Great Fireman to Great Father and Husband to Great Friend. A Great Light inevery circumstance. Heaven has just inherited a Great Being.

Dear Deirdre & Michael....Peter and I were stunned to hear of Stewart's passing...our hearts go out to you and Michael...of course we have the fondest memories of our get togethers at the Comox Fire Department. 
Stew, we shared a lot of laughs and some sad times during our time we worked together but through that whole time not only did you serve others in their times of need but you served as a role model to your fellow firefighters. So sorry to hear of the sudden passing of our friend from the past, and a former "Westmounter".  Stewart lived around the corner and down the street from us in Hamilton.  After moving into their new house, he quickly became a part of the "circle".  We remember him fondly and our thoughts are with his family at this time.

Very sorry for your loss and my deepest condolences. I met Stew his last week at Mica. When I arrived on site he walked right up to me and introduced himself with a big smile on his face. Stew will be missed dearly.

Dear Dierdre;
I was sorry to learn of Stewart's sudden passing.  We first met in 1981 when Stewart was logging for Crown Forest here in Courtenay.  The last time we met he seemed very happy with the life of semi retirement after the Campbell River Mill had closed.
Stewart was the real thing with no pretenses.  He gave a lot back to the community through his work on the Comox Fire Department.
He will be missed not only by his family and friends but by the whole community.

I will never forget the good times we had growing up in Hamilton, living in Youbou and our adventures in Hawai'i. The world's loss is Heaven's gain. My condolences to Deirdra and Michael.

I remember when Stewart and his family moved into the new home on Lynbrook Drive which was built in "our field" where we played and got into trouble.  We were not happy that our field was being taken over by "foreigners".  Little did I know that a few years later we would be wearing identical green hydro parkas and hanging out together.  We became good friends attending the unforgettable TiCat-Argo double header playoff (drinking our rye..), jumping freight trains out west and doing our thing.  I have often thought of those times and I suppose as we get older those memories will come back more and more.  My memories of Stewart are great and although our lives took different paths and we lost touch Stewart you were always in my heart.  God bless you!  My sincere condolences Derdra and to family. I knew Stew only for a short while he was working here at Mica Dam with the Fire Rescue teams. I always him easy going, had humourous comments and strong professionalism about his job. I was impressed to see the BCHydro flag at half mast.  It was a very good tribute to Stew.  My condolences go out to the family and to his friends.
