It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Bob Lannan.
He was predeceased by his father Brian, mother Evelyn and younger brother Ron. He is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Stephanie (James) and sister Sharon Morrison as well as 5 sisters in law, 1 brother in law and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was born in Tofino hospital while his parents lived in Ucluelet during the war. The family then moved back to Calgary until being posted to Comox after the war. After graduating high school Bob moved to Calgary to further his education and worked for the Calgary Herald for some time with his favourite uncle and mentor, Orrin.
A position as a Linotype machinist with Pacific Press took him to Vancouver in 1967 where he met Karen in l968 and they were married the next year.. He and Karen travelled extensively before Stephanie was born, taking a ‘Round the World’ trip in 1971 – 72. Getting to know other cultures and customs was important to him. Bob made friends wherever he went and always had a joke or quip in his head.
After moving as a family to Comox in 1996, Bob was a member of the Classic Cruisers car club for many years and enjoyed being in the parades and driving the grads around in his convertible.
He was a man of many talents and interests. He went to Capilano College in North Vancouver and became a prolific bronze and stone sculptor. He also enjoyed woodworking and pottery, and dabbled in many different fields. He could fix almost anything.
Bob loved anything to do with the water; snorkeling, boating and especially fishing. And being such a family man, he really enjoyed the days of camping with all the extended family. He will be remembered for his many jokes that could make everyone laugh and groan at the same time.
After many years of illness, Bob left us at his chosen time, using the help of MAiD, with Stephanie and Karen by his side.
