He is survived by his wife Ruth (married for 65 years), son Kim(Wendy) Grandson Alex, in Red Deer, Brian(Dawn)Lanark, Ont. Granddaughter , Jaime(Ihor)and Great grand children Andriy and Marko, Almonte, ON, Grandson Stuart(Sula), Great grand children Iona, Innis, Ottawa, ON and by his sister Gail Bouchard and family of Vancouver B. C.
Ray was born in Moosomin, Sask and moved to Meadow Lake, Sask of which he told many stories of his early childhood school days. He graduated High school in Edson, AB and worked briefly in the Bank of Nova Scotia there before transferring to the BNS in Vancouver.
He joined the RCAF and graduated as Communications Air Technician from #1R&CS in Clinton, ON. He was posted overseas in 1957 to #4FW Baden Soellingin Germany where he met his wife Ruth.
Over his 30 year military career, Ray was posted to Namao, AB, Trenton, ON. And CFB Lahr Germany before retiring at his last posting: Comox.
Ray enjoyed Ham Radio, Sailing, and fixing radios-preferably Antique ones! He held many posts with the Amateur Radio club and was an Industry Canada delegated examiner for Amateur radio.
The computer and his internet travels occupied a lot of his time. He was always willing to help others with their computer or radio problems…. And enjoyed his morning coffee breaks with “the boys”
The family would like to thank all the support and care of Dr Gee, The first responders ,the home care nurses, foot care nurse and all the neighbours especially over the last three years.
Ray chose to not have a funeral but an intimate celebration of life in the Springtime 2025. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Comox SPCA
