There does not seem to be enough words to describe the incredible life that Lloyd lived. His generosity, kind and brave heart and wisdom touched the lives of many around the world. Lloyd was always quick to share an easy smile and offer stories of wilder days and lessons learned. The gentle giant of a man was loved beyond measure by all who knew him. A father figure to many who needed that strong presence in their life, a role model and inspiration to those struggling, a teller of stories over morning lattes.
From younger days spent doing demolition work in Alberta, Furniture moving and packing for his fathers moving company and long-haul trucking with wife Deb and long-time friend Bill, to commercial diving in 1982. Lloyd was a man of many talents. Wanting to increase those skills and further his career, he took the Malaspina college mariculture course in 1986 to begin his road into aquaculture work. Working on a fish farm where he quickly became manager. From there, after continuing to work as a commercial diver washing salmon nets as well as working a few years as a fish buyer with his father Jim, Deb and young daughter Arielle, he gained his accreditation as a skipper and ultimately earned his 500- ton ticket. Started work on the Sea Roamer in 1995 first as a relief skipper and then moving to full time skipper, the pieces started to fall into place and resulted in the purchase of the boat in 2002. Growing a family run company into a service relied on by our aquaculture partners in many ways. Along this journey came many ups and downs that Lloyd was proud to speak of, often in hopes that it would help someone else through their journey. Many challenges overcome and a life well lived and lived out loud. Made possible by the fact that this year Lloyd celebrated 35 years clean. Many of us who knew him can say, he never did anything halfway. Travelling the world on dive trips and making lifelong friends in every place he visited, adventuring around the mountains with the local ATV club, hosting steak or roast dinners at home (that were always late), golf games with dear friends, mentoring others through their journey’s. Through all the achievements and adventures over the past 9 years, he was fighting another battle of his own. An aggressive cancer diagnosis that he fought hard for 9 years. Never allowing it to slow him down. He left behind a life of memories instead of dreams, teaching many along the way to take the time with family or to live a dream. He is deeply missed.
Lloyd is Predeceased by his Mother Marilyn and Father James Muckle. Survived by his Wife of 47 years Deb, His Daughter Arielle, Brother Neil and Cousins Gerry, Janice, John, Jeff, Alan and Karen.
Lloyd has been cremated at Piercy’s Mt. Washington Funeral home. His family has organized a private memorial on July 6th, 2024.
