Gordon the second of five siblings, grew up in Windsor, Ontario. Where he developed his athletic prowess, especially in lacrosse and track and field. He was always playful and up for the next game or adventure.
Gordon headed west with burin' desire in his late teens, blazing his trail to the island and finally to Merville, BC there he created a paradise he built by hand.
After a debilitating fall, followed by surgery, Gordon was recovering at home where he died suddenly, sitting in his favourite chair, in the first cozy cabin he built.
He'll be remembered for his gentle soul, his generosity and his sparkly-eyed smile (accompanied by his intermittent Jew's harp or harmonica playing).
Forever missing him are his 'push me pull you' of 37 years Maxine Payne, his source of pride step-grandson Jack Nelson and daughter-in-law Heidi Nelson, his brother-in-law Karl Stevenson and sister-in-law Marla Stevenson, his brothers Al(Marcia)Payne, Steven(Kerry) Payne and his sister Kristine(Ian) Sheardown as well as many nieces, nephews and their families.
Waiting to start on new trails with him are his brother Paul Payne and sister-in-law Ethel Payne and much loved stepson Adrian Nelson.
We'll be having a fire in his honour on June 19, 2023 4pm, 7116 Railway Ave. Bring your chair, stories and songs to share. To reach Maxine please email her at [email protected]
