Predeceased by his Mother Ardis Walter(nee Allan) and Nephew Brent Wilson , survived by his Father Rudolf(Rudy) Walter, Sisters Greta Webster(Gary) and Renate Wilson(Al), Brother Rainer Walter and Niece Andrea and Family.
Brian’s first years were spent in Coquitlam at Como Lake where he loved bullfrogs, his red go-kart, Grandma Hazel’s house and garden and all the wonderful Allan family gatherings where he had so much fun with his cousins. When the family moved to Port McNeill, Brian as a young boy would discover a great place to grow-up and make new friends. During the next few years he loved to spend his time dirt biking, fishing and crabbing at the head of the bay, playing his drums, listening to Deep Purple, chasing big fish with his Dad and enjoying family boating trips on the Bry-Lynn.
Brian worked in auto body repairs for a while but was drawn back to the outdoors becoming a commercial fisherman. Known by so many as ‘Crow’, Brian worked hard with his feisty and tough-as-nails character for many years along and beyond the BC Coast. For most of those years Brian called Sointula home, a small community full of wonderful caring people, many who became lifelong friends to Brian. He would then settle in the Comox Valley where he could spend time with his Mom and Dad , family and friends and make a special connection with wonderful Uncle Bill. During the best times in his life Brain would smoke and can fish to share, cook roast dinners and bake apple pies to enjoy a meal with those he loved. When Brian could just be himself, he was sensitive and sweet, generous and kind, loved a good joke and to laugh and had the most amazing smile. He liked animals, hummingbirds, old cartoon characters, music, catching up with old friends and watching the Canucks with his Dad.
Brian had survived much in his life but injuries from the crosswalk hit and run together with his lifestyle brought him much pain in the last few years. Having his home at The Junction where he found friends and caring staff was something Brian was so thankful for and brought much comfort to his Dad Rudy and family. For this we are so very grateful.
Behind the hard times, struggles and pain in his life was someone with a bright soul, big heart and a sparkle in his eye like no other. Brian was a Son, a Brother, a Friend, he was loved. His death has left us heartbroken but we will celebrate his life and spirit, hear his laughter and see his smile and hold him in our hearts forever.
Your road was long and you were tired, now it is time to rest Brian, in Peace.
The lord is my Pilot, I shall not drift.
He lighteth me across the dark waters:
He steereth me in deep channels: He keepeth my log.
He guideth me by the Star of Holiness for His Name’s sake.
Yea, though I sail mid the thunders and tempests of life,
I will dread no longer, for Thou art with me:
Thy love and Thy care they shelter me.
Thou preparest a harbour before me in the homeland of Eternity.
Thou annointest the waves with oil.
My ship rideth calmly.
Surely sunlight and starlight shall favour me on the voyage I take,
And I will rest in the port of my God forever.
