Steve was born on January 11, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio to Virgil and Phyllis Porter. He received a bachelor's degree in interior design from the University of California Irvine. Steve fathered one son Zachary.
Steve was a house painter and general contractor by trade who was highly sought after for his outstanding work. Steve’s passion was art. He was an extraordinary artist. His work was admired by friends, family, and others. He sold many pieces and won numerous art contests and excelled in multiple disciplines. Steve would often tell jokes to brighten the days of his friends and family. He was known as a compassionate, and dependable mentor. He loved his son and his grandchildren and took every opportunity to demonstrate his love.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Virgil, and his mother, Phyllis. He is survived by his son Zachary (Yvette), his four grandchildren Erich, Anna, Caleb and Ella, his brother Gary (Mary), and his three nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28th, 2023, at the Newport Beach Alano Club, 414 32nd St., Newport Beach, CA. 92663 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve’s name may be made to Charle Street (charlestreet.org) where Steve volunteered for over twenty-five years so his legacy may continue to help others achieve sobriety.
