We are so deeply saddened to hear of Bob's passing.  He was a fantastic person that we knew through our time in the Long Beach Ski Club.  Always had a big smile on his face and very kind to everyone he met.  Looking at the family photographs reinforces our very much positive memories of our times back in the day skiing at Mammoth,  seeing him at club parties and meetings.   You don't meet many people like that in your life.  

I'm so shocked and saddened to hear of Bob's passing. He was always cordial to me when I popped into his office if he happened to be there.
He was well known in the Design industry and will be surely missed.

It feels strange and unnatural, to talk about Bob in the past tense.
Intelligent and kind, humorous and tactful, professional and creative…He will be in our hearts forever.

Though I haven’t seen Bob in over 20 years, I enjoyed working with him at WATG.   I especially remember his smile and enthusiastic demeanor.     I supported the Surf and Sand project, led by Don Fairweather.   Bob was the project manager and never missed a detail or daily challenge on this project.       

Bob also managed WATG’s office move from Fashion Island to the University office.     I can still picture Bob walking around the office with his clip board wearing a tee shirt with a bulls eye on it.    

Bob shared many personal stories, including falling in love with Angelica.     I was happy to witness the first sparks of their romance.

We first met Bob and his family when they joined our boy scout troop with Harrison. We quickly became good friends with the family, and especially with Bob, as he was active in Harrison's Trail to Eagle Scout. We will miss his laughter, smiles,  hugs, and his warm personality. So sad to hear of his passing, and our love and prayers go to the Stern family during this time.  Colleen and Andy❤

Bob Stern was an amazing man. He was constantly in my families life, either Mondays nights for Boy Scout meetings and weekend camping trips or the day to day grind of working with my mom. I will always remember the constant smile on his face and the love that he showed to everyone he knew. He will be dearly missed.

Bob was my true friend for 54 years and I will remember his sincere fellowship and smile and laughter forever.  He was a decent man.  I love you. Rest In Peace.

I am so saddened to hear of Bob’s passing.  Although I haven’t seen him in many years, I can still see his red hair, the twinkle in his eyes and the smile that was almost always on his face.  We knew each other through the Long Beach Ski Club. There were several years of winter skiing, summer skiing at Lake Havasu and volley ball games at the beach with our mutual ski club friends.
Thank you for giving us a glimpse into his family life through your photos.  He was a good man and will be missed by all.

I am so sad to hear of Bob's passing. He was one of my first mentor's in my career and went out of his way so many times for me and my family. He had a lot of love to give and a lot of love around him as well. I don't think I realize yet how much I will miss him. Rest in Peace my friend, job well done.  

Krys and I were Bob's professional colleagues. While we competed as Architects for services at USC, we never viewed Bob as a competitor. We were colleagues who shared information for the best of the client. We felt his passion for the work, you could see it in his designs and his construction documentation. He set a benchmark for complete services and provided such well beyond the norm. If we competed and I knew the project went to Bob, I felt at ease that it went to a good Architect. We admired Bob so much so, that we could only show him by referring him to our other clients when we were unavailable. We knew that they would be in good hands.

I personally am not sure how I will process Bob's passing. We are the same age and I counted on him for advice and recommendations. His legacy as an Architect was just beginning. He had so much more to offer. However, he has left exceptional work and an ethic that needs to be revered. We were blessed to work at USC with Bob and we will always be reminded of him by his individual and extraordinary work. When we see it, it will make us smile!

I met Bob and Angelica when we first moved to California in 1989.  I can safely say they were both my first friends at WATG, and made me feel welcome in a totally new environment in a big scary architectural firm. Bob always had a great sense of humor and his wit never failed to make me laugh.   His humor, talent and professionalism in architecture will be remembered. 

Lastly, I always admired his devotion to Angelica and his three boys, who all have our deepest sympathy at this difficult time.

Bob, you will be missed.

I knew Bob through his work at USC, where I serve as the College Architect for the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences.  While his professional skill was exceptional and the work he left behind a distinguished legacy, what I remember best is his sense of humor and the enthusiasm that he brought to the most mundane task.  He was friendly and respectful to both faculty and contractors, and made every project a good memory.

He will be missed.
