Pam was born and raised in Indianapolis IN, having spent most of her growing up years as a proud Hoosier in Carmel, Indiana. She graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1973 and went directly into the nursing program at Ivy Tech in Indianapolis, graduating as an LPN in 1976. She married Michael Hegazy, whom she met at a Nursing home where they both worked in 1975, and eventually moved to Michigan City, IN, with their children Nadia Marie and David in tow, where they opened a Veterinary Hospital, and she put her nursing skills to work as Dr. Mike’s assistant.
Pam was active in Young Life as a girl and sang with gospel choirs and inspirational singing groups such as Up With People for most of her young adult life. She also took dance lessons, was a cheerleader, and cheer coach. She was active in the churches she found as the family moved to various cities in the US when her husband’s job as a meat inspector for the US government required new location assignments. Pam lived in many locations/states including: Griffith City, IN; Escondido CA; Fairfax, VA; Clovis, CA; Pismo Beach, CA; Durham, NC; and Long Beach, where she resided at her passing, and where she and her husband sold their final vet practice (Broadway Pet Clinic/Long Beach) and retired in 2017. Most remember Pam for her smile, her generosity, her love of singing, and her love for helping others - all creatures great and small - and she especially had a heart for the weak and injured.
Pamela is preceded in death by her mother (Mary Lyon), father (Harold Karl Bush), brother (Harold Karl Bush Jr.) and nephews (Daniel Bush and Kevin Bush).
Pam is survived by her husband of over 46 years, Dr. Mike Hegazy; her daughter Nadia Maria Ramos (Mark Ramos/Long Beach, CA); her son David Mohammad Hegazy (Long Beach, CA); daughter Kathryn Mary Hegazy (Long Beach); 4 grandchildren, Layla, Mason, Logan and Sophia Ramos; her sisters Cheryl Urrabazo (Donald Urrabazo/Canyon Country, CA) and Karla Franko (Ron Franko/Apple Valley CA); brother Doug Bush (Terry Bush/Vancouver, WA); niece Chelsea Franko (Apple Valley CA); nephews Jason Bush (Muncie, IN), Joseph Bush (Amsterdam, Netherlands), and Tommy Urrabazo (Canyon Country CA); cousins Judy Cutright (Corpus Christi TX) and Sue Fuciarelli (Alfred/El Paso, TX); sisters-in-law Hiroko Bush (St. Louis, MO) and Nadia Elmashad (Cairo, Egypt); brother-in-law Selah Hegazy (Cairo, Egypt); nephew-in-law Ashraf Elmashad (Virginia Beach, VA), and numerous nieces/nephews-in-law in Egypt.
