Neal Laverne Davison was born September 21, 1937, in Adams Township, butler County, Pennsylvania, to Ray McCleaster Davison and Dorothy Mary Kretzer. He graduated from high school in Mars, Pennsylvania, and worked with his mother in a bar/restaurant until he was drafted. Neal was seriously wounded in Vietnam and spent nine months in an Army hospital in recovery. He settled in Orange County, California to be near the Veterans Hospital for treatment. In spite of his disabilities, Neal was able to work as a bar manager at the Balboa Yacht Club and later worked at the Newport Harbor Yacht Club. When he was unable to work anymore, he invested in rental property and took car of it himself. This left him time to pursue his passion in life which was to go hunting, or fishing. Neal made many friends through the Safari club and treasured him time with them. When he was unable to go to meetings anymore, he had his memories. He had hunted in North America, South America, Africa, Europe, and Australia. Neal married Judy Ellenburg in 1975. Although they were eventually divorced, they remained good friends and took care of each other.
A funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, November 9, at Harbor Lawn Mortuary in Costa Mesa at 10:00am. Reception will follow. At Neal's request, interment will be in the Veteran's Cemetery in Riverside on November 14, 2016.
