Kenneth Paul Moses, age 78, of Costa Mesa California passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital in Fountain Valley, California.
Kenneth was born September 20, 1944 in Del Rio, Texas to Ira Paul Moses and Mary Frances McWhirt. He grew up in Sanderson, Texas and attended Sanderson High School. He played on the football team and graduated Class of 1962. He attended University of Texas El Paso where he played in the band, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physics, and a Master of Business Administration. In 1970 he married Susie Watkins and her four children. Just over a year later, they had a baby girl and moved back to El Paso. Ken worked in engineering for many years, but later in his career he became a certified customs broker and worked for a Mequiladora plant in Juarez, Mexico. He retired in 2014.
Ken enjoyed reading, playing games, working on his computer, and listening to music in the courtyard in the back yard of his home. In 2019 he moved into Royal Estates retirement community in El Paso. During the pandemic, he spent time talking to resident friends in the Sun Room. In 2021 he moved to Coastal Heights retirement community in Costa Mesa, California to be closer to his daughter and her family. He made many friends among the residents and staff there. He was teaching his friends how to play dominoes and learning how to play cribbage. He also enjoyed visiting with friends during Social Hour and going on the scenic tours provided by the community.
Kenneth is predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Susie Watkins Moses, his children Jeanie Threlkeld-Owens, Terri Maggard and Johnny Dering. He is survived by his sister, Tammy Blue, his son, Tony Dering, his daughter, Paula Hoang, nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
