Wilbur Dewey Donley, age 98 of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away on February 14, 2024, from natural causes. Wilbur was born in Coshocton, Ohio to Dewey Donley and Lela Fortune Donley. He graduated from Conesville High School in 1943.
Wilbur is survived by his wife, Eva Wright Corder Donley; daughter, Brenda (Allan) Concoby and son, Steve (Teresa) Donley. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, his sisters, Edith Bishop, Hazel Dawson, Louise Illingworth, and his wives, Eva Norris Donley and Ginny Kiser Donley. Wilbur was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all.
Wilbur is a World War II veteran, having served from April 1944 to May 1946 in the 78th Infantry “Lighting” Division deployed in the European Theater. After returning from the war, Wilbur was employed until his retirement from General Electric in Coshocton, Ohio. Wilbur started as a Laborer, was promoted to a Press Operator and promoted to Quality Control Auditor, was promoted to Forman, promoted to Equipment Specialist, promoted to Manager of Operations 3-11 Shift and Manager of Fabrication Department, then Retired as Manager Box Pack and Shipping Department.
Wilbur was a long-time member of the Coshocton Church of the Nazarene.
In a biography written by one of his great grandchildren, Wilbur shared that he has accomplished what he had wanted in life. He made a decent living and enjoyed his retirement. His advice is “be good, go to church, don’t lie, be patient, and be kind.”
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Coshocton Church of the Nazarene, 1058 Orange St., Coshocton, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at the Church at 12:00 pm with Pastor Andrew Bird officiating. Burial will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the Coshocton County Veterans Council Honor Guard. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
