Ruth Evelyn (Jones) Lyons, age 94, of Coshocton, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 2, 1925 in Corning, Ohio to the late Ralph and Ellen (Rodgers) Jones.
After graduating from Corning High School in 1944, Ruth married Fred Lyons on July 28, 1946. They celebrated 59 years of marriage before Fred passed away on April 29, 2006.
Ruth was involved in many activities and organizations throughout her life. She was a life member of Roscoe United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School there for many years. She volunteered her time at the Red Cross working the Bloodmobile and as a Clip Board Lady during swimming season; she volunteered for Community Hospice and for Friends of the Library for many years. Ruth was a Brownie Leader; guide for Roscoe Village, sold AVON, a member of TOPS 506 and the Canal Quilters. She also worked part time for Shaw Barton and was a seasonal employee at the License Bureau. Ruth loved to read, go bowling, was a wonderful baker and loved spending time with her family.
Ruth is survived by her children, Michael (Ruby) Lyons of Coshocton, Sharon Dunn of Sarasota, FL, Jackie Li of Sarasota, FL, Carol (Bob) Olinger of West Lafayette and Leslie Dorobek of Portland, OR; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, brother Tom Jones of Coshocton, sister-in-law Mary Jo Jones and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Ruth is preceded in death by her daughter, Bobbi Stanton, granddaughter,Tessie, sister, Ann Wesney, brother, Jerry Jones, sons-in-law, Tom Dunn and Bruce Rose, sister-in-law, Shirley Jones and brother-in-law Bill Stanton.
Per Ruth’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
