He was a 1955 graduate of Coshocton High School. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy. He was very proud of his military service (January 1956 to December 1959). On August 11, 1956, he married Lucille Jenkins, who survives. The couple had 5 children.
He is also survived by three of his children: Terri (Adkins) Kline of Coshocton, Lori (Adkins) Slaughter of Apollo Beach, FL and Stuart Adkins of Xenia, OH; sisters Vesta Norris and Ealgene Wright of Coshocton; grandchildren Austin Alverson, Chris Alverson, Brody Mullett, Jason Adkins, Heather Soto, Amanda Spencer, Justin Zickefoose, Jamie Darr, Melissa Mossman, Hannah Wiley, and Mike Murray; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael E. Adkins; his daughter, Sheila (Adkins) Guilliams; a sister, Mary Yake; a brother, Tommy Simmons; and a grandson, Joshua Zickefoose.
He was an electrician by trade and had worked locally for Clow and Stone Container. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, going to area auctions, caring for his chickens, and exercise classes and meals at the Coshocton Senior Center.
A graveside service will take place at Canal Lewisville Cemetery on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 1:00 pm officiated by Tim Dickerson. Military honors will be performed by the Coshocton County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ronald’s name to Coshocton Senior Center, 201 Browns Lane, Coshocton, Ohio 43812.
