Mary K. Fortune, age 80, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2012. She was born in Coshocton, on May 23, 1931 to the late William and Beatrice (Donley) Whiteus. On June 14, 1947 she married Joseph Fortune who passed away on February 18, 2000. Mary worked as a cook for the Riverview School District for 25 years before retiring. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church of Coshocton, was a member of the VFW, was on the resident council at Lafayette Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation for several years and loved playing bingo. She is survived by her children, Carol (Lou) Gardina, Dave (Debbie) Fortune, and Jeff (Lisa) Fortune all of Coshocton; eight grandchildren, Darrell Holskey, David Fortune, Neco Simpson, Tobie Coogan, Louie Gardina, Daniel Fortune, Nick Gardina, and Kayla Fortune; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Lola Ridenbaugh; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Roxanne Simpson; brothers, William and Donald Whiteus; sister, Norma Carpenter; and son-in-law, Larry Holskey. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Given-Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012 from 5-7:00 pm at the funeral home.
